The featured paper within this issue is "Climate, lightning ignitions, and fire severity in Yosemite National Park, California, USA" (Lutz, et al.), which examines the relationship between snowpack and the ignition and size of fires that occurred within Yosemite National Park between 1984 and 2005. The authors' research suggests that decreased spring snowpack within the park may increase the number of lightning-ignited fires, with an increase in annual area burned at high severity.
