Chuck Bushey of Billings, Mont., represented the IAWF at the Reno, Nev., meeting of the Western Governors' Association Forest Health Advisory Committee. He presented an update for the WUI/Community Protection Subcommittee. During the meeting, the FHAC received a briefing on the development of the Cohesive Strategy for Wildland Fire Management and upcoming sessions around the United States where invited attendees will have an opportunity to provide input into development of the strategy. Following the Human Dimensions of Wildland Fire Conference in San Antonio, Texas, Bushey represented IAWF at a forum for the strategy, and he was in the audience for a similar forum held in Billings, Mont.
Dr. Ron Steffens of Poutney, Vt., represented IAWF at a Fire Field Exercise Day that connected Green Mountain College students with firefighters from the Green Mountain National Forest. He will soon be starting his fire season at Grand Teton National Park after a short exploration through the fire-adapted landscapes of Italy.
